mu⋅sic [myoo-zik] issue /01

Yesterday I bought two new CD's, and they both are amazing. Lately I've taken a step back from the electronica music scene, mainly because of the majority of drug-loving club-goers that represent the genre's target audience. I simply do not fit that crowd, and in no way want to be related with that group. Folk/indie/pop/rock as a formed genre is much more broad and neutral, a better representation of who I am. I still love lots of electronica: Fischerspooner, Bloody Beetroots, Crystal Casltes, Justice, Lo-Fi-Fnk, etc. It's just receeded into a genre no longer of first choice.

Nick and Norah's Infinate Playlist Soundtrack

The first CD I got was the soundtrack for the film "Nick and Norah's Infinate Playlist." The movie was good. The music in it was better. I mean, with a name that has the word "playlist" right in it, the music's got to be good. Here's the full list of songs, go download them illegally and decide for yourself how good the music is. Most of these songs are album version rarities only found on this album, so if you're a big fan of any of these, simply downloading thses songs won't fufil your hunger.

1. Speed of Sound - Chris Bell
2. Lover - Devendra Banhart
3. Middle Management - Bishop Allen
4. Ottoman - Vampire Weekend
5. Riot Radio - The Dead 60's
6. Fever - Takka Takka
7. Xavia - The Submarines
8. After Hours - We Are Scientists
9. Our Swords - Band of Horses
10. Silvery Sleds - Army Navy
11. Baby You're My Light - Richard Hawley
12. Very Loud - Shout Out Louds
13. How To Say Goodbye - Paul Tiernan
14. Last Words - The Real Tuesday Weld
15. Nick & Norah's Theme - Mark Mothersbaugh

I recommend: no.3/ no.4/ no.9

Los Campesinos! - "Hold on Now Youngster..."

What an awesome little band. I'm not really good at comparing or explaining bands but I'll give it my best shot. Los Campesinos! reminds me alot of The Research with less lo-fi organ punch chords. This band has a bit more depth and variance. The tempo has been bumped up to give it a good fast indie-rock sound. "Hold on Now Youngster..." is Los Campesinos! first full length album released in February 2007. It's just one of those bands that has such a solid original sound that anyone and everyone will enjoy it.

1. Death to Los Campesinos!
2.Broken Heartbeats Sound Like Breakbeats
3.Don't Tell Me to do the Math(s)
4. Drop It Doe Eyes
5. My Year in Lists
6. Knee Deep at ATP
7. This is How You Spell "Hahaha, We Destroyed the Hopes and Dreams of a Generation of Faux-Romantics"
8. We Are All Accelerated Readers
9. You! Me! Dancing!
10. ...And We Exhale and Roll Our Eyes In Unison
11. Sweet Dreams, Sweet Cheeks

I recommend: no.1/ no.5/ no.9
